Adirondack Nonprofit Network Seminar Series
Nonprofit Lifecycles
Wednesday, June 6, 2012
9:30am-3:30pm
Adirondack Museum, Blue Mountain Lake, NY
The life of a nonprofit organization can be compared to stages of human development, all coming with challenges and strengths that can either help or hinder the success of the organization.
Nonprofit Lifecycles looks at capacity and understanding what it looks like in each of seven stages: Idea, Start-up, Growth, Maturity, Decline, Turnaround and Terminal.
This presentation, co-hosted by ACT and Adirondack Nonprofit Network (ANN) will be facilitated by Jeff Grimshaw, Director of the President's Office of Business and Community Relations at SUNY Oswego and Executive Director of the Workforce Board of Oswego County. Jeff will explore and give an overview of the characteristics and outcomes of programs, management, governance, resources and systems of each of these stages, and discuss some of the impacts.
Cost is $50 per person or $85 for two, and lunch will be served. Please make checks payable to: Adirondack Community Trust, and mail to PO Box 288, Lake Placid, NY 12946.
Please register now, and mark your calendars. We look forward to seeing you on June 6th.
ACT strives continuously to honor its commitment to nonprofit organizations.
We provide seminars, trainings, fiscal sponsorship and other resources to help community organizations pursue their missions more effectively. Attendees can come learn in an informative, entertaining setting and network with staff and volunteers from other nonprofit organizations serving our region. Since 2000, ACT has hosted over 40 training seminars for staff and board members of nonprofit organizations designed to strengthen the impact they have on their clients and their communities. ACT invests in this work to ensure a strong a vital nonprofit sector serving the region.
Continuing through 2012, ACT and Adirondack Nonprofit Network together will offer a special series of endowment seminars and trainings. ACT, the community foundation serving the Adirondack region, has 50 nonprofit endowment partners. Together we hold, invest and administer $3 million in endowment funds. Having a fund with ACT affiliates your organization with a respected regional public foundation that manages over $27 million in assets. This relationship also provides professional investment management as it diversifies your endowment fund across more asset classes than would be possible investing it individually and typically with lower fees. ACT's pool of funds is invested on a "total return" basis (combining capital appreciation and earned income), designed to lower volatility to preserve the assets in perpetuity.
Check back periodically to see a schedule of upcoming Nonprofit Leadership Seminars for the fall.
