Irene Flood Recovery Efforts

Helping our Neighbors in Need

Helping out

Philanthropy is alive and well in the Adirondacks!  The community's response to the wreckage caused by Tropical Storm Irene has been one of heartfelt strength and teamwork. Gifts have come in from far and wide to help those affected by Irene's wrath, and we sincerely thank those of you who have given so generously already and encourage others to do the same. Recovery efforts are ongoing, but spirits are rising as help from our neigbors continues.  Winter is digging in and there are still folks out there without heat or insulation, so all gifts are most welcome.

JAY
The Board of the Town of Jay- which includes the Hamlets of Upper Jay, Jay and Ausable Forks, established the Jay Flood Relief Fund at ACT on September 29, 2011.  The fund accepts gifts to support flood victims in the Town of Jay.

Special and Urgent Needs Fund at ACT (SUN)
You may wish to support people in need without focusing your gift on a specific town or even a specific catastrophic event. The Special and Urgent Needs Fund (SUN) is designed to address short-term, unforeseen needs within Adirondack communities. This Fund receives gifts from individuals and private foundations who want ACT to respond to needs where and when ever they occur. In the past few months, Special and Urgent Needs Fund grants have helped Irene's victims through local nonprofits. Read a press release about these SUN Fund grants. Gifts may be made to the Special and Urgent Needs Fund anytime.
